Citizen Serie 8 GMT

Citizen Serie 8 GMT

The Series 8 line has debuted in 2008, but was mostly intended for the Japanese domestic market. Characterized by watches with a rather high price, it mainly featured Eco-Drive movements. A collection that remained silent for over a decade and which, on the second-hand market, has maintained a certain value.

At the beginning of 2021, Citizen announced a series of new ones mechanical watches, some moved by automatic calibers. Although the Miyota movement factory, which belongs to the Group, continuously produces quartz and mechanical movements, it had been more than ten years since Citizen, as a brand, had introduced a new mechanical caliber. A stasis interrupted by caliber 0200 which subsequently led to the debut of the new Citizen Series 8, more convenient than their predecessors and capable of greatly relaunching the collection. The strong point of which was and remains, in addition to the movement, the design.

Although a product of the Third Millennium, the case of the Citizen Series 8 line has a strong point 70s flavour. Angular lines, short lugs, integral but not integrated bracelets and a round bezel set in an octagonal case: the watch makes all this a formidable tool for lovers of a certain type of aesthetic. Which is accompanied by the precision of a high-performance mechanical movement and a reliability that, being Japanese, is bombproof, at least on paper.
